Any kitchen should work well, last well and stand the test of time in terms of design. It was a treat to design the kitchen for this spacious inner city loft, home to a fabulous art collection. The kitchen was inspired by a beautiful slab of Calacatta marble which had been put on hold by the client. The basalt floor tiles were continued up into the underside of the island - a suggestion from the architect that the island should ‘grow’ out of the floor and a Sara Hughes installation was added after completion and was the perfect finishing touch. There are so many interesting vistas, reflections and details in this kitchen. It asked to be clean, well proportioned and understated.
