POINT CHEVALIER Residence

This was my first triangular shaped kitchen! Modern house designs mean that one usually works with a squarish or rectangular kitchen floor plan.  On this project it took considerable effort from both myself and the architect to get the layout working. The structure of the house which sits very close to the water is a triangle with the wide side facing the harbour. The difficulty with this kitchen was that the deeper you got into the triangle the smaller the space became. Finally we abandoned the idea of the walk-in pantry and worked with the triangle. Proof that sometimes you need to keep pushing until you get the design working with the architecture.  We played with two finishes of porcelain , smooth on the back splash and sliding panels and brushed on the benchtop which added interest.
