When initially introduced to this commercial space, it was clear that the existing false ceilings should be removed to reveal the sawtooth roof structure. What was originally a factory space sought to be returned to its former self whilst catering to the open plan and flexible requirements of modern workplaces.
Having worked with hot milled steel previously on a kitchenette, we felt it would also work in this space. The rule of thumb on this project was to draw on the industrial beginnings of the space to guide the choice of materials and finishes, where possible working with what was existing.
The central bathroom core has been clad in Woodtex panelling, providing not only visual interest but also contributing acoustically to the space. Full porcelain sheets act as a backdrop to the basins, with LED strip lighting and framed mirrors elevating these spaces.
This project had time and budget constraints, with the success of achieving the transformation within the resources provided becoming a rewarding experience.
